National Open Access Strategy adopted by swissuniversities

At its plenary assembly on Tuesday, 31 January 2017, the Rectors’ Conference of Swiss Higher Education Institutions, adopted a national Open Access Stategy. The strategy aims that until 2024 all publicly funded publications should be freely accessible by everyone. The vision of Switzerland is based on current European models, which are also committed to the free access of their scientific publications. The OA strategy contains defined action fields which are intended to achieve the goal of Open Access. This strategy has been commissioned by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SBFI) in collaboration with the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and will now be submitted for approval to the Swiss Conference of Higher Education Institutions (SHK).
