Open Access publishing fund for social sciences and humanities

Since 2012 the Main Library of the University of Zurich supports Open Access publications from the humanities and social sciences with a publishing fund. Combined with the current institutional memberships this is a way to support all research areas when publishing with open access.

The fund has been running since 2012 and could be extended every year. Each year the prolongation of the fund will be considered. Eligible authors are entitled to a maximum of CHF 2,000.- from this fund in a calendar year, to cover open access publication charges for one or more publications. Since the budget is limited, the principle "first come - first served" applies. In order to be eligible for financial support the author must be sure to comply with the funds guidelines. This is the authors' responsibility.

Workflow
Once a paper is accepted for publication the author can apply for funds. The date of receipt of the application determines the eligibility in case the fund is exhausted ahead of schedule.

Authors are asked to fill in the application form and send it to oai[at]hbz.uzh.ch. They will be informed immediately if the publication costs can be covered or not. If you have problems with the form please send an email.

After the confirmation of payment of the Open Access costs by us, the invoice should be issued directly to us (Zentraler Rechnungseingang). The authors will be informed about the invoice details via email; otherwise we cannot guarantee that the fees are paid properly.

In any case, a copy of the published paper is needed. If the final published version of the work shows that the requested criteria have not been met, the Main Library can still decline the reimbursement at this point.
