Starting in 2012 the Main Library University of Zurich supports open access publications from the social sciences and humanities with a publishing fund. Combined with the current institutional memberships this is a way to support all research areas when publishing with open access.
The fund runs for the first time in 2012 in a pilot phase of one year. In this year all eligible authors can apply for 2'000 CHF from the fund to cover open access publication charges for one or more publications. In the first year the fund will phase out if it is exhausted before the end of 2012. Therefore the principle "first come - first served" applies. In order to be eligible for financial support the author must be sure tho comply with the funds guidelines. This is the authors' responsibility.
As soon as a work is accepted for publication the author can apply for funds. The date of receipt of the application determines the elegibility in case the fund is exhausted ahead of schedule.
Authors are asked to fill in the application form and send it to oai[at]hbz.uzh.ch. They will be informed immediately if the publication costs can be covered or not.
The publisher's invoice has to be paid for by the author. The author then issues an invoice (bill) to the Main Library of maximally 2'000 CHF for reimbursement and also attaches a copy of the original publisher's invoice as well as a copy of the finally published work. The Main Library refunds the requested amount to the author.
If the final published version of the work shows that the requested criteria have not been met, the Main Library can still decline the reimbursement at this point.
