Publishing with Open Access |

Scholarly knowledge is passed on through scientific publications. However, high fees inhibit access to this information in the Internet. The Open Access principle allows for free access and therefore better visibility of publications. In this course we will discuss with you the background, development and goals of the Open Access movement. You will learn about copyright issues, projects, initiatives and ZORA (Zurich Open Repository and Archive).
Goals:
- understand the publication cycle and problems with the current system
- learn how the costs originate
- discuss copyright aspects of scholarly publishing
- an overview of the international Open Access movement (incl. Open Access journals)
- learn about Open Access at the University of Zurich
- learn about ZORA (Zurich Open Repository and Archive) and how to contribute your publications to ZORA
