The Open Access Council is a committee of the University of Zurich that deals with general queries about open access at the University of Zurich, that supports the implementation of the strategic goal of open access and works out suggestions to the attention of the Executive Board of the University. The Council is the interface between the researchers of each faculty, the Main Library University of Zurich and the Executive Board of the University.
According to the Standing Order from November 26, 2009, these are the main duties and responsibilities of the Open Access Council:
- drepresenting the concerns of their researchers about open access towards the Executive Board
- implement the open access guidelines within each faculty
- push general and faculty related measures to boost the acceptance of ZORA
- care about important queries and propositions concerning open access from their faculty researchers
The Council consists of nine members: a chairman (ex officio the member of the Executive Board of the University that is the superior of the Main Library), one deputy of each faculty, and an executive director (ex officio the Coordinator Open Access of the Main Library). The current members are:
